The current staff and student population of Oliver School are preparing for a spectacular 100th Anniversary Celebration in honour of this stately building. Our 100th Anniversary Facebook Page, "Oliver School Centennial" features photos, information about the school and updates about our event. Please watch for further information through media advisories as our celebration date nears, and help us to spread the word. All former staff, students and community members are invited to join in the fun on Friday, May 27th and /or Saturday, May 28th, 2011.
Oliver School has been the center of the Oliver Community for more than one hundred years and many, many children and staff have passed through its doors over this great span of time. Each of them has taken away memories of this grand old building and several have returned for impromptu tours over the years to revisit the days of their youth and recall some of those special times. Many former students have gone on to become well-known provincially, nationally and even world-wide. We are so proud to have as alumni; Mel Hurtig, Olympian Angela Whyte, Canadian heavyweight boxer, Ken Lakusta, the late Justice Tevie Miller and Lou Hyndman, to name just a few.
