On Wednesday, March 2, Edmonton Public Schools will host the 47th annual Night of Music at the Northern Jubilee Auditorium (11455 87 Avenue). The event starts at 7 p.m. and runs until approximately 9:10 p.m.
After two months of endless practicing, approximately 843 students, 18 teacher conductors, and 56 music teachers will come together to share the power of music and demonstrate the quality music education programming in the District.
This year's theme is Music: The Rhythm of Life. Throughout life, every movement, action and breath has a rhythm, a patterned recurrence of a beat or accent. Just like our lives and all that is part of it, music has a rhythm - a pattern that can be shared, repeated and enjoyed. Music is a part of the pulse of our lives.
The Jasper Place School Rebel Thunder Drumline, one of the newest performing groups in the District, will appear for the first time at Night of Music. This group keeps busy by raising the roof at school spirit and sporting events and in the community, including last November's Grey Cup Parade.
In conjunction with musical entertainment, an art exhibit will be displayed in the main floor foyer. The exhibit showcases the diversity and quality of art programming within Edmonton Public Schools.
Everyone is welcome to attend this free event. Festival seating will be in place.
