As an alternative to a debate forum, Trustee candidates for the Edmonton Public School Board were provided an opportunity to take part in a video statement to answer generic questions that would otherwise be asked of them as part of a forum (i.e., tell us about your background; what values do you bring to the role of Trustee). Each candidate was given the same 10 minute time limit and they were provided the questions in advance. The questions were first vetted through the Alberta School Boards Association to ensure they were fair and unbiased.
The videos are now posted live on the Edmonton Public Schools website. They have been organized by ward and by question to provide quick and user friendly access to information on candidates.
The Edmonton Public Schools website also includes information from other sources, for example, the candidates' campaign websites, information on community debates and ATA candidate questionnaire responses.
