Good Things Are Happening
TOP STUDENT CHEFS BATTLE OVER ROULADEN AND CHOCOLATE MOUSSE

On February 6, from 10 to 1 p.m., 12 Edmonton and area high schools will compete in the 3rd annual Canadian Culinary Foundation's (CCF) Edmonton High School Culinary Challenge at NAIT. The competition takes place in the NAIT South Kitchens directly behind the Common Market in the O Building. Access is available through the main entrance on 106 Street. Media are welcome to attend.

Each team of three (professionally attired in white chef jacket, checked or black pants, apron and chefs' hats) will create six servings of a three-course meal (soup, entrée and dessert) in three hours. The courses will all be plated and presented for judging. The Executive Chef judges include Tony Botelho from the Sheraton Four Points; Ariel Baluyut from the Glendale Golf and Country Club; Michael Brown from the Westin Hotel; Blair Lebsack from the Madison Grill; John Lizotte from the Royal Glenora; and special guest judge Liane Faulder from the Edmonton Journal.

The winners of the competition will be announced on March 3 at an Awards Luncheon at the Shaw Convention Centre. The young student chefs are not only competing for a trophy, but also have an opportunity to apply for scholarship and mentorship packages.

The Edmonton High School Culinary Challenge was launched to introduce high school students to the exciting possibilities of a career in the culinary arts.

CCF Edmonton is dedicated to uniting professional chefs, cooks and industry partners, to promoting the art of cooking and excellence in the trade, to educating members both professional and juniors.
