Good Things Are Happening
ÉCOLE GREENFIELD SCHOOL HAITI EARTHQUAKE RELIEF FUNDRAISER LED BY FRENCH IMMERSION KINDERGARTEN STUDENT APPROACHES $5,000!

Yesterday's total was at $3,150.66, with donations continuing to come in today.

It all began when five-year-old Ty B., a Kindergarten French Immersion student, stopped the school principal, Karen Linden, in the hallway on January 14 to tell her about what he had learned on the news about the earthquake in Haiti, and how sad it made him feel for everyone living there. He suggested that Greenfield students could raise money to help. On January 18, he presented his idea to the École Greenfield School Student Government, and together they created an action plan.

All students were encouraged to get involved to help raise $5,000 by January 22, to support the Haiti earthquake relief efforts of Free the Children and GLA Canada. Students were also encouraged to show proactive leadership by contributing their own money rather than asking parents for money.

The Greenfield Baptist Church has partnered with the school, and will match what the students raise up to $5,000; then, the Government of Canada will match that amount. It is very possible that Greenfield students could be sending $20,000 to help Haiti!
