Good Things Are Happening
OLYMPIC ATHLETE TO VISIT ALLENDALE SCHOOL
On December 17, from 1 to 2 p.m., Olympic athlete David Bissett will be making a visit to Allendale School. David is headed to the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver as a member of the Canadian Bobsled team.
The relationship between David and Allendale School is part of the Adopt an Athlete program. David will be speaking to students about his experiences as an athlete and students will have an opportunity to ask him questions. As part of the Adopt an Athlete program, the school holds fundraising events to raise money to help support David as he trains.
The program is supported by the Canadian Olympic Committee and matches participating schools with Canadian athletes. The school based program teaches students the value of community contribution by working together to raise funds for athletes with Olympic aspirations. In return, the adopted athletes inspire students to excel in any area of their lives through school visits and communication.
