Good Things Are Happening
QUEEN ELIZABETH SCHOOL HOSTS LARGEST HIGH SCHOOL VIDEO CONFERENCE IN THE WORLD

On Thursday, November 5, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Queen Elizabeth School is hosting the fourth annual Video Conference for Hope (VC for Hope), the largest high school video conference in the world.

Through a live video conferencing connection to the highlands of Guatemala, home to the Maya Mam indigenous people, students from 30 schools across North America will examine the impact of globalization through the stories of three amazing young Guatemalans and their families. Students will learn how the choices they make everyday impact the lives of young people in developing countries. The event will also help kick start a campaign to raise awareness and funds for the building of a school in Comitancillo, Guatemala where only three out of every 10 children have access to formal education.

The VC for Hope brings students face-to-face, via video conference, with their peers in developing countries. The conference sends a video conferencing unit to a developing area so that students can interact directly with the students for whom they are raising money to build a school. In partnership with Polycom and Change for Children, the VC for Hope has raised over $25,000 for schools in Afghanistan, Nicaragua and Guatemala.

Please note: Although the VC for Hope runs all day Queen Elizabeth students will be actively participating in sessions at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
