OTTEWELL SCHOOL RECEIVES $5,000 GRANT FROM BP CANADA'S A+ FOR ENERGY PROGRAM

On Friday, September 18, at 9:30 a.m., Ottewell School will receive a cheque from BP Canada's A+ for Energy education program recognizing teacher Colbie Bell's innovation and excellence in teaching energy and energy conservation.

The school's project, How much Energy for Electricity, is one of five initiatives across the Edmonton Public School district to earn a $5,000 or $10,000 grant from A+ for Energy in 2009. Tipaskan, Prince Charles, Brightview and W.P. Wagner Schools were also awarded grants for their energy projects.

Colbie is pleased the project has been recognized adding, "With the funding provided by the A+ for Energy program we are giving our students the opportunity to learn about how electricity is created and used in Alberta in different, innovative ways."

The A+ for Energy program from BP Canada Energy Company recognizes Alberta K-12 educators who use innovative ideas to teach students about energy, conservation and the environment. This is the third year the A+ for Energy program has benefited Alberta teachers.
