Approximately 79,000 Edmonton Public Schools students return to classes on Wednesday, September 2.

What's New?

  • Lillian Osborne School (2019 Leger Road) will welcome over 320 Grade 10 students. The school becomes the district's 196th school and 13th high school.
  • Kindergarten through Grade 6 students will return to a new building and classrooms at Victoria School of the Arts.

H1N1 Update

Edmonton Public Schools continues to monitor the H1N1 influenza virus and to take our lead from Alberta Health Services. Our Pandemic Response Plan is ever changing as new requirements and information become available. Listed below are some of our strategies:

  • Schools and district buildings will continue posting signs asking people not to enter if they are experiencing flu like symptoms;
  • Pandemic kits are being distributed to schools and departments to assist in establishing sick rooms should students and staff become ill at school;
  • Schools will be reviewing proper handwashing and infection control practices such as cough and sneeze in your sleeve; and
  • Daily student and staff absence tracking has been implemented to monitor influenza trends. Parents are being asked to indicate the reason for the absence. In addition, we are encouraging all staff and parents to develop family pandemic plans.

Edmonton Public Schools is the second largest school district in Alberta and the sixth largest school district in Canada.
