Good Things Are Happening
HONOURING CELEBRATION SPOTLIGHTS FIRST NATIONS, MÉTIS AND INUIT GRADUATES
On Wednesday, June 10, students, staff and families will gather at Ross Sheppard School, (13546 - 111 Avenue) for the 2nd Honouring Celebration of First Nations, Métis and Inuit Graduates.
The honouring ceremony begins at 7:00 p.m. in Ross Sheppard's large gym with an opening blessing by an Elder. As part of the celebration, there will be a grand entry with flags from the three treaty nations. Each graduate will be presented with a gift as well as a special stole, its colours representing the Aboriginal philosophy of life which promotes mental, physical, emotional and spiritual health. The ceremony will be followed by a round dance featuring the drum group Thundering Spirit.
The student-designed program will also include special guests Carolyn Buffalo, Chief of the Montana Cree Nation and noted actor Nathaniel Arcand.
