UPDATE ON INFLUENZA H1N1 (SWINE INFLUENZA) OUTBREAK
On April 29, the World Health Organization raised the level of the worldwide pandemic alert to Phase 5, which indicates that there has been sustained human to human transmission of the Influenza A H1N1 virus (swine influenza) on a community wide basis in two or more countries and one WHO zone. Given this heightened alert, the District is maintaining its course in terms of travel restrictions and infection control protocols and will introduce additional measures as required.
The Province has directed our school district, along with many other organizations, to ensure that its emergency response plans are updated and ready to implement at a moment's notice should there be any reported cases among our students or staff.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact Health Link or your family doctor. Edmonton Public Schools will continue to monitor the situation, and provide updates as necessary on this website.
