DISTRICT RECEIVES SUPPORTING INNOVATIVE CLASSROOMS FUNDING
Edmonton Public Schools has received funding for their project proposal - Innovative Technology Management Solutions - Anytime, Anywhere Access: Student Portal Ed. This project implements a new online portal called "Ed". "Ed" will deliver anytime, anywhere access to district resources for students and provide the flexibility for schools to increase access to technology by enabling student-owned devices to be used alongside school-owned devices in school. Providing students with a secure, online portal will support new teaching and learning strategies that go beyond the walls of the school.
The funding of Supporting Innovative Classrooms comes from Alberta Education. A total of 26 project proposals were approved recently to share $6.8 million in provincial funding, with individual projects being funded to a maximum of $300,000.
The projects will begin in the 2009/2010 school year and run until the end of the 2010/2011 school year.
