Good Things Are Happening
D.S. MACKENZIE STUDENTS LEARN THAT PHYSIOLOGY IS PHUN!

This week, Grade 8 students at D.S. Mackenzie School are learning about Physiology, the study of how living things work, from Dr. Kelvin Jones from the University of Alberta and some of his graduate students.

Dr. Jones will lead students in hands-on activities to learn about how their bodies function and how medical discoveries are made. Students will choose from three different stations featuring: blood pressure and pulse oximetry; lung volume and flow; and emergency response teams and exercise.

The sessions are part of Physiology Understanding (PhUn) Week, an annual K to 12 outreach program coordinated by the American Physiological Society, a scientific organization with 11,000 members founded in 1887.
