Good Things Are Happening
GEORGE P. NICHOLSON SCHOOL CELEBRATES OPENING OF ENVIRONMENTAL GARDEN
On October 2, at 2:00 p.m., George P. Nicholson students, staff and parents will mark the opening of the school's Environmental Garden by gathering outside under the garden's amphitheatre. As part of the celebration, students from each grade level will tie a wish to a tree that will then be planted. In addition to the amphitheatre, the garden also features the Alberta Elements Garden, which contains plants, rocks and minerals native to the province.
The Environmental Garden allows students to expand their learning outside of the regular classroom. George P. Nicholson School is committed to ensuring students grow as critical thinkers through the use of inquiry based practices that include questioning, problem solving and assessment for learning.
The Honourable Dave Hancock, Minister of Education; Catherine Ripley, Trustee, Edmonton Public School Board; Edgar Schmidt, Superintendent of Schools; and George P. Nicholson, former Trustee and school namesake, will be in attendance at the celebration.
