Good Things Are Happening
NELLIE MCCLUNG STUDENTS SPREAD VALENTINE'S DAY CHEER
On Thursday, February 14 at 10 a.m., students from Avonmore School's Nellie McClung program will be loading Valentine's Day care packages for delivery to the Edmonton Women's Shelter.
These students are part of the school's community services group and approached staff members last fall with the idea of helping women and children in need of support. Since October 2007, the students have held bake sales and other school fundraisers. Through their efforts they have raised over $1,300.
The money was used to construct Valentine's baskets that contained bus tickets, coffee pots, dishes, toasters, and other household items.
