Good Things Are Happening
CABANE À SUCRE AT DUNLUCE SCHOOL

Join the fun and excitement of Cabane à Sucre at Dunluce School on Friday, February 8 beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Students will participate in activities to celebrate French culture including "sugaring off", sleigh rides, traditional music and other outdoor winter events. Dunluce School offers French Immersion at the Kindergarten to Grade 3 levels.

The Cabane à Sucre is a very important annual family event in Quebec. Maple syrup season begins as soon as the sap starts running in the maple tree, usually early in March. Nowadays, the whole sap gathering operation is streamlined, but at one time a group of workers or an entire farm family would camp out in the sugar bush. They worked for days, drilling holes in the maple trees, gathering the sap and boiling it down to make maple syrup.
