Good Things Are Happening
GEORGE H. LUCK SCHOOL GIVES BACKPACKS TO THE HOMELESS

On Monday, December 17 at 9:30 a.m., students, staff and parents from George H. Luck School will visit the Boyle Street Co-op (10116 - 105 Avenue) to donate 280 backpacks filled with items for the homeless.

The Back Pack of Luck project is an initiative of the George H. Luck Outreach committee. The school purchased the backpacks in bulk and sold them to students and their families. The backpacks were then filled with items suggested by the agencies that work with homeless people. The backpacks are now stuffed with items such as socks, toques, hats, gloves, candles, books, handmade bookmarks, coffee cards and cards of caring from the students.

This past November, the George H. Luck School hosted Hannah Taylor, founder of The Ladybug Foundation. Hannah shared with student's information on how they could make a difference to the homeless people in Edmonton. Since 2004, the Ladybug Foundation Inc. has raised over $1 million directly and indirectly for projects that provide frontline services to the homeless.
