Good Things Are Happening
NATIONAL ABORIGINAL DAY AT MONTROSE SCHOOL

Montrose School is proud to host Edmonton's north east area celebration honouring National Aboriginal Day on Thursday, June 21. Students, their families and the staff from five district schools will participate in the day long festivities. The five schools are Rundle, Newton, Abbott, Montrose, Highlands.

The celebration starts at 10:30 a.m. with an opening blessing by an Elder and O' Canada sung in Cree. Four tipis will be set up in the school field with a different activity taking place in each. There will also be a number of stations throughout the school yard where students and their families can take part in activities that include learning about Aboriginal traditions, storytelling, dance, music, games, crafts and lacrosse.

Over 20 career booths will be set up to provide students with the opportunity to see Aboriginal people working in different careers.

Partners for the event include the Boys and Girls Club, Canadian Native Friendship Centre, Candora, City of Edmonton, Partners for Kids and Youth and the Red Road Healing Society.
