Good Things Are Happening
GRADE 9 STUDENTS TO MEET WITH ENVIRONMENT MINISTER
On Monday, June 4, a class of Grade 9 students from Allendale School will have lunch with the Honourable Rob Renner, Minister of the Environment. The students were invited after Minister Renner received letters from the class describing their concerns and ideas about the environment. During their meeting with the minister, students will have an opportunity to ask him questions about environmental initiatives. After lunch, the minister will introduce students at the beginning of Question Period.
Language Arts Teacher Robin Knight, asked students to write the letter based on what they learned from their recent field trip to hear Dr. Richard Leakey's presentation on climate change. In their letters the students also included the concerns Dr. Leakey's presentation raised for them as Albertans. "This experience shows students the impact they can have by writing a letter to an elected official," says Knight.
