Escuela Mill Creek hosts artist-in-residence

Escuela Mill Creek will host Trickster Theatre from May 14 through 18. The week-long artist-in-residency group is a physical theatre company, which means the physical component of the performance is developed before the dialogue. Students and staff, through daily workshops, lectures, demonstrations and rehearsals, create an original performance based on the theme, Diversity in a Spanish World. The two performances will take place on Friday, May 18 at 1:30 and 7:30 p.m.

Trickster Theatre has been in the educational touring program in Alberta since 1980. They have presented over 1,000 performances and been involved in over 500 week-long residency programs in schools. The theatre group has also performed at Toronto, Edmonton and Calgary International Children's Festivals and toured internationally to Denmark, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand and Mexico.

Through the artist-in-residency project, the Alberta Foundation for the Arts (AFA) makes it possible for schools to bring professional Alberta artists into their classrooms for residency programs ranging from one to thirty days in length.
