Ross Sheppard students win bronze in synchronized swimming at the Canada Winter Games

Three students from Ross Sheppard High School have returned from the Canada Winter Games in Whitehorse with bronze medals.

Nicola Allen (17), Kate Scott (16) and Hannah Bazar (16) placed third in the team event, behind Quebec and Ontario. Their routine was choreographed to music performed by a Japanese drum group, whose rhythmic beats were interpreted as the sound of the human heart. The moving performance drew high marks from the judges, who placed them 1.5 points ahead of British Columbia.

All three students train with the Edmonton Auroras, the city's only national-level synchronized swim club. Nine athletes were on Alberta's synchronized swim team, which also competed in the solo and duet events.
