Read Around the Planet - A Celebration of Reading!

Beginning today, Monday, March 5 and continuing through Friday March 9, students from 18 schools and approximately 80 classrooms will participate in the Read Around the Planet (RAP) video-conferencing project.

The project has been designed to give students in elementary and junior high schools the opportunity to communicate, collaborate and contribute to each other's learning, to help build international and cultural awareness. Some of the schools will even communicate in a second language such as American Sign Language, French, Mandarin and German.

Students and teachers are well prepared for the RAP celebration. Over the last few weeks, teachers have been communicating with their partners around the world, planned their programs and tested successfully their videoconferencing connections with places such as USA, Taiwan and Nicaragua.
