Videoconference for Hope
On November 24 at 8:30 a.m., students from around the world will be gathering via videoconferencing to help raise awareness and funds for the building of the Godah Primary School for Girls and Boys, in Afghanistan. Students from over 30 schools, including several from Edmonton Public Schools, will interact with experts, debate issues, share personal stories, sing and dance. The goal is to raise $10,000 to contribute to the building of a school in Abbaa, Afghanistan. The event has been organized by Queen Elizabeth School, which will also host many of the sessions.
The videoconferencing sessions include presentations by Afghan students now residing in Canada, a videoconference with soldiers stationed in Afghanistan, Afghan art, language, music, cooking and current fundraising projects taking place in schools. Students will also be writing a book of peace which will be shared with all participants and the school in Godah, Afghanistan.
