Author and illustrator visits Menisa School as part of TD Canadian Children's Book Week 2006
Ontario author and illustrator Lisa Smith, will be speaking to students at Menisa School on Wednesday, November 22 about the process of writing and illustrating children's books. She will discuss where her inspiration comes from and how she spins it into a story. Ms. Smith will also talk about the planning of a picture book, how the story will flow textually and visually and how the illustrator brings the words and images together. Students will also have the opportunity to hear about the process involved in painting the illustrations and the design and printing of a book.
TD Canadian Children's Book Week is Canada's largest celebration of reading and Canadian children's books. Each year, the Canadian Children's Book Centre (CCBC) co-ordinates a cross-Canada tour of Canadian children's authors, illustrators and storytellers. The CCBC attempts to make Book Week accessible to all schools by reducing the fees of the authors and illustrators to $125 per reading. A $50 shared tour cost fee is also charged to all schools and libraries that host a Book Week visitor.
When: Wednesday, November 22
Time: 9:30 a.m.; 10:35 a.m.; and 12:35 p.m.
