Board invites public input on setting Priorities for 2011-2014

At last night's public meeting, the Edmonton Public Schools Board of Trustees approved a new draft Vision, Mission, Beliefs and Values, and Priorities document that will guide the work of Edmonton Public Schools for the next three years. The Board is now asking members of the public to provide their input on the draft.

Input can be provided by reviewing the draft document available at www.epsb.ca and completing an online survey at http://tinyurl.com/Priorities-Consultation.The survey will be posted until Sunday, February 6 at midnight. Feedback from the survey and consultations with community members and students will be reviewed by the Board and a final document is expected to be presented to the Board for approval in March.

In addition to providing opportunities for input into the 2011-2014 Priorities, the Board has extended the opportunities for the public to be engaged and informed about board business through live webcasting of public board meetings between now and June 2011. "The Board has agreed to extend this unique and leading-edge communication tool because we see it as an additional way to be transparent and engaging about our business." said Board Chair Dave Colburn.

A full agenda and reports presented at last evening's board meeting are available under the Board of Trustees section of www.epsb.ca. In addition, an archived video copy of the board meeting webcast is available at www.livestream.com/edmontonpublicschools.
