Calgary visits Inglewood School to Celebrate the Grey Cup in Edmonton

On November 26, Inglewood School was paid a very special visit by the Calgary Grey Cup Committee. During the hour long visit, students and staff were entertained by the Calgary Grey Cup band, 20/20; were taught line dancing by the Stampede Queen, her Princesses and the Indian Princess; danced with clowns and learned the right was to say YAHOO! thanks to Charlie the Horse, their mascot. City Councillor Kim Krushell, Assistant Superintendent Mark Liguori and Principal Leona Gordey were all presented white cowboy hats and made honourary Calgarian's for the day.

The School Committee of the Calgary Grey Cup Committee has been attending Grey Cups throughout Canada for several decades. Among their many activities when in the Grey Cup city is to visit a high needs elementary school. Their goal is to share with students, not only some information about Calgary, but give them a taste of some Western spirit. The Committee also made a generous donation of $1,500 to the school.

The committees mandate is to promote the Calgary Stampede, the City of Calgary, the Province of Alberta and of course, the Grey Cup in each of the host cities.
