Edmonton Public Schools gives input to the Standing Senate Committee on Aboriginal Peoples

Superintendent Edgar Schmidt and Dr. Margaretha Ebbers, Supervisor, Aboriginal Education will appear before the Standing Senate Committee on Aboriginal Peoples today representing Edmonton Public Schools. The committee is meeting with students, parents and educational organizations in Saskatchewan and Alberta as part of its ongoing study on First Nations primary and secondary education.

On October 8, members of the Standing Senate Committee will visit Amiskwaciy Academy (101 Airport Road) from 9 to 10:30 a.m. They will tour the school and speak to students, teachers, Elders, central leaders and First Nations leaders. The visit will also include a discussion of the District's partnership work and agreements with First Nations authorities.

MEDIA ARE INVITED TO COME TO THE SCHOOL TO VIEW THE MORNING SONG AND WELCOME OF THE SENATORS AT 9 AM.
