Edgar Schmidt, Superintendent of Edmonton Public Schools, made the final decision today that Riverdale School will have a Kindergarten class for the 2010-11 school year. His decision is based on 13 confirmed registrations (and one pending confirmation) as well as discussions with the Principal regarding the school's ability to make a Kindergarten class viable within the school's budget.
Edgar Schmidt called the efforts of parents and community members "an outstanding community commitment to public education." The Principal of Riverdale School has personally called all of the parents whose children are registered for Kindergarten, as well as the Parent Advisory Council to inform them of the decision.
