Good Things Are Happening

What: HILLVIEW SCHOOL RECEIVES $10,000 GRANT FROM BP CANADA'S A+ FOR ENERGY PROGRAM
A representative from BP Canada will present a cheque to Herman Chang, a science teacher at Hillview School, who successfully applied for a BP Canada A+ for Energy education grant. This donation will be used towards implementing an energy education program that will involve the entire school. Staff and students will gather for a surprise novelty cheque presentation to Mr.Chang

The A+ for Energy program is offered to teachers to assist them in providing innovative classroom projects for their students to explore energy topics that will be increasingly important to their future.

 
When: Monday, May 10 at 9 a.m.
 
Where: Hillview School, 355 Woodvale Road East
 
Why: Teacher Herman Chang is receiving the funding for his innovative project proposal - Earth Day 2011: Stewarship Begins with Me. The project will provide Kindergarten to Grade 6 students with the opportunity to learn how they can care for the world through research projects based on energy conservation, energy efficiency, alternative technologies, solar power, biomass energy, hydropower, geothermal energy, wind power and hydropower. The projects will begin in the 2010/2011 school year and culminate at an Earth Day Fair on Thursday, April 21, 2011 where students will present and share their findings.
