Good Things Are Happening
GLENDALE SCHOOL RECEIVES $45,000 FROM THE INDIGO LOVE OF READING FOUNDATION

Glendale School is one of 20 selected from across Canada

On Wednesday, January 27 from 3:15 to 3:30 p.m. Glendale School will be launching its literacy journey to celebrate receiving $45,000 from the Indigo Love of Reading Foundation. This school wide kick-off, held in conjunction with Family Literacy Day, will see the students taking home $13,500 worth of books received from the first year of the Indigo Love of Reading Foundation grant.

The teachers and students from Glendale School were awarded the grant through dedicated efforts demonstrating their need for home literature and their passionate commitment to learning through the love of reading. In addition, receiving the grant also shows the elementary students that people other than their families, teachers and friends care about their education and well-being.

The Indigo Love of Reading Foundation was established in 2004 to promote early literacy by helping Canadian schools in severe need with funds for new books and other learning materials. Since inception, the Foundation has contributed $7.5 million, including the $1.5 million donation made to 20 schools across Canada this year.

Media are welcome to attend and there will be plenty of photo opportunities.
