Good Things Are Happening

ARABIC CULTURE AND LANGUAGE COME ALIVE AT GLENGARRY SCHOOL

Marhaban! Welcome! On Friday, May 29th Glengarry School students will be immersed in the Arabic culture as the school hosts its 4th annual Arabic Language and Culture Day.

This full-day celebration will include singing, acting, a fashion show, displays and cultural presentations from students in Grades 1 to 6. In addition to the students' performances, there is even a chance for guests to learn Arabic from the Grade 6 students. Lunch and snacks will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

This event is a celebration of the student's year long learning and an opportunity for them to share and showcase their knowledge in the Arabic language and culture.

The Arabic Bilingual Language and Culture program at Glengarry School began in 1983. The students enrolled in the Bilingual Program represent approximately 20 different countries.

"Learning a foreign language not only reveals how other societies think and feel, what they have experienced and value, and how they express themselves, it also provides a cultural mirror in which we can more clearly see our own society."
- Edward Lee Gorsuch, former Chancellor of the University of Alaska
