Good Things Are Happening
BACKPACKS OF LUCK

On December 15 and 16, students, staff and parents at George H. Luck School will be filling 425 Backpacks of Luck for the homeless in Edmonton. This is the second year the students have chosen to support those less fortunate. These students are making a difference in the lives of people who really need some luck and supplies for daily living. Each child will fill a backpack with essentials for daily living, as well as books and some edible treats. What touched many of the homeless last year were the notes of well wishes and hope from the students tucked in the bags.

On December 16, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Councillor Don Iveson, Julian Daly, Executive Director of Boyle Street Community Services and members of Edmonton Youth Council will attend a special assembly at the school to honour the school community's commitment and support for the homeless. They will also join in filling some backpacks.

All backpacks will be delivered to Boyle Street Community Centre (10116 105 Avenue) on December 17 at 9:45 a.m.

Quote from Julian Daly, Executive Director of Boyle Street Community Services

"Young people are looking for ways to make a difference. Backpacks of Luck is a tangible and meaningful way to signal the desire of young people to help people who do not have a home."

"The joint work of students, parents and staff is a powerful sign that George H. Luck thinks about the needs of the community."
