Good Things Are Happening
THE EDMONTON OILERS SHARE-A-BOOK WITH PARKDALE SCHOOL STUDENTS
On Tuesday, December 2, from 1:30 p.m. to 2, students from Parkdale School will be visited by a member of the Edmonton Oilers. The visit coincides with the launch the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation's Share-a-Book campaign. This campaign sends book bags with books to Grade 1 students in Edmonton to promote literacy at home. The Share a Book campaign is partly funded by the Edmonton Journal's Raise-a-Reader campaign.
Last week, a group of Grade 5 and 6 students from Parkdale visited the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation where they helped stuff 2,225 book bags for the campaign. During the launch, students will give a book bag to their Grade 1 or 2 buddy and spend some time reading with them.
