SENATOR GRANT MITCHELL TO VISIT OLIVER SCHOOL

On Friday, November 21, at 1 p.m., Grant Mitchell, Liberal Senator and former Liberal party leader, will speak to students in Grades 6 to 9. Senator Mitchell will speak to students about the role of government in the lives of citizens, the responsibilities of the federal government and how citizens can have an active role in the democratic pr5ocess. He will also speak about the roles of the governing party, the official opposition and the role of the Senate. Senator Mitchell will end his session with a question and answer period.

Senator Mitchell was appointed to the Senate in 2005. From 1994 to 1998, Senator Mitchell was the leader of Alberta's official opposition and leader of the Alberta Liberal Party. He was the official opposition's House Leader from 1993 to 1994. He was a member of the Alberta Legislative Assembly for the riding of Edmonton-McClung from 1986 to 1998.
