Good Things Are Happening
DISTRICT STUDENTS TO EXPERIENCE LIFE IN UKRAINE

On March 9, eight Edmonton Public Schools' students will travel to Lviv, Ukraine where they will spend two weeks meeting and interacting with students from their twin school, the Classical Gymnasium of Ivan Franko. The students, from Balwin and M.E. LaZerte schools, are part of the District's Ukrainian International Bilingual Program. They will be accompanied by teachers and parents.

In Lviv, students will stay with a Ukrainian family and attend regular classes. As part of their stay, students will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of interactive tasks and research projects, present information about Canada and Canadian culture, and share information about Ukrainians in Edmonton. In addition, students will also visit museums and historical sites around the city of Lviv and take part in cultural events.

The trip provides students with an authentic language and culture experience while fostering positive social interactions and learning opportunities for students and teachers.
