Good Things Are Happening
HOCKEY WEEK AT BEACON HEIGHTS SCHOOL

This week, Beacon Heights School has celebrated Hockey Week. Throughout the week, staff and students have incorporated hockey into their activities, both in and outside the classroom. Friday, November 23 is jersey day and at the 2:30 p.m. windup assembly, students will sing Stompin' Tom Connors' song, 'The Good Old Hockey Game'.

The Beacon Heights staff has made many curricular connections to hockey in various subject areas. For example, in math, students graphed hockey standings and conducted surveys of their favorite teams. In language arts, teachers set aside numerous hockey books for students to read. Students were also involved with designing their own hockey cards and goalie masks.

Members of the U of A Pandas and the hockey team read to classes and the Grant MacEwan Griffins were at the school to run a skills camp.
