Good Things Are Happening
READ IN WEEK AT EDMONTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS - OCTOBER 1 TO 5

Edmonton Public Schools is proud to be a part of the 18th annual READ IN Week in Edmonton. Each year, READ IN Week reminds us of the importance of reading with our children and helping them develop a lifelong love of books.

This year's theme, A Moveable Feast/ La lecture: un régal pour l'esprit was inspired by Ernest Hemingway's book, A Moveable Feast. In the book, Hemingway speaks about the remarkable people, places and moments in 1920s Paris that enriched him as a writer. He opens our eyes to imagining life like a feast of abundance and variety.

Many schools in the District have planned unique activities to celebrate this important week and have invited special guests to come and share their love of reading in classrooms. Parkdale School is welcoming 100 employees from TELUS who have volunteered to come in and read to students and Ricky Ray, quarterback for the Edmonton Eskimos will be reading to Grades 4, 5, and 6 this afternoon at 2:30 p.m.

Guest readers in schools include dignitaries such as MLAs, City Councillors, members of the Edmonton Public School Board as well as representatives from the Edmonton Fire and Police Services, Edmonton Eskimos, Edmonton Oil Kings and media personalities.
