Principal recognized with National Award

Jean Stiles, Principal at J. Percy Page School, has been named by The Learning Partnership as one of 32 exceptional principals from across Canada. The award recognizes principals who strive to make a measurable difference in the lives of their students and community.

"I am absolutely thrilled," says Jean Stiles. "Not only am I personally humbled, I am honoured to accept the award on behalf of the amazing staff, students and parents at J. Percy Page."

Ms. Stiles will participate in a five-day Executive Leadership Training Program in Toronto in February. In addition, she will be inducted into the National Academy of Principals, where she will have an opportunity to participate in a year-long online forum. On February 27, she will be formally honoured at the Canada's Outstanding Principals Awards Gala Celebration.

Corinne McCabe is the Executive Director responsible for J. Percy Page School. "Jean is a team builder and a passionate leader," says McCabe. "She is full of ideas and energy and possesses unbending faith in the power of the human spirit to succeed despite all challenges. It is this ever-present conviction that inspires those who work with her to accept nothing less."

Jean has been an educator with the district since 1985, teaching from kindergarten through Grade 12. She has been a principal for 11 years, most recently at J. Percy Page, where she has served for the past three years.

Established in 1993, The Learning Partnership (TLP) is a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to championing a strong public education system in Canada. Now in its third year, Canada's Outstanding Principals program was developed as an endeavour between The Learning Partnership and the Canadian Association of Principals, in collaboration with the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management. Since being launched, 59 exceptional leaders from across the country have been selected as Canada's Outstanding Principals.
